Norma Jean Williams was born November 19, 1935, in Jackson, TN (Madison County). Her parents, who preceded her in death, were Dora Moody Douglass and DeWitt Cannon.
Norma Jean, as she loved to be called, accepted Christ at an early age and had been a lifelong member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She served on the Nurses Committee now referred to as the First Responders. Norma Jean devoted to her calling until her decline in health.
Norma Jean was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Johnnie G. Williams. From that union, they reared five children; Micheal H. (Debra) Williams, Maurice G. Williams, Sr., Michelle W. (Eric) Butler, Marva Lynn Williams (deceased), and Monica Lacy.
Norma Jean was educated in the Jackson Madison County School System and graduated from what was formerly known as Merry High School. Norma took many career paths, one being a cosmetologist and received a certificate in Cosmetology from Eddings Beauty School Academy in Jackson, TN. While later in lefe accepting her true calling from her childhood to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and graduated from McKeller Airfield Technical Institute. She worked over 20 years in her field. Norma Jean loved civic duties and volunteered for years on voting registration drives and assisting at the voting polls. She was also actively involved in the Order of Eastern Star.
Norma departed this life on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband; Johnning G. Williams; a loving daughter, Marva Lynn Williams; and three granddaughters, Christina Danielle, Alicia Blair Williams, and Kyla Moore. She is survived by four children, ten grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Frankie Nell Croom; sister-in-law, Dorothy Douglass; a host of special nieces and nephews; and other family and friends. Special mention of her dedicated daughters, Michelle and Monica, and dedicated granddaughters, Cheri Williams and Tiffany Lacy. They were all dedicated to her until her passing.
