Ms. Colleen Moore Scott was born June 5, 1951 in Milan,Tennessee to the late Collie D. Scott and Wauline Elizabeth Moore Scott. She transitioned from this life on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Colleen received her education from the public schools of Milan, Tennessee. She graduated from Polk Clark High School in 1969. She attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and later graduated from the West Tennessee Business College in Jackson. She retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Health. She also worked for many years at Lane College serving as Secretary to the Dean of the College. In that capacity, she came to know and love many students. Many thought of Colleen as another mother or aunt.
Colleen accepted Christ at an early age at St. Paul Baptist Church in Milan. She later became a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson where she remained a member until she transitioned. Colleen served as a member of the Young Adult Choir, Bus Ministry, Usher Board, the Hattie Scott Circle, and the Bereavement Committee. Colleen was involved in several civic groups including the Minnie Williams Social Club, the Gibson County Training School Alumni Association, and the Milan Senior Citizens Board.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sisters. She is survived by her daughter, LaTonya Dawn Wynne (Roger) of Murfreesboro; brother, Gregory DeVol Scott (Sherrill) of Jackson; granddaughter, Morgan Alexandria; grandson, Maxwell Alexander; and grand dog, Chance of Murfreesboro. She also leaves a nephew, Ian DeVol Scott (Monica) of Slidell, LA; a niece, Megan Elizabeth Robinson (Quinton) of Montgomery, AL; one great niece, MaKensie Scott, and three great nephews, Quinton DeVol, Ian Gregory, and Cody Douglass. In addition, she leaves an aunt, Easter (James) White; godson Tony Sanders; and a host of devoted cousins and friends.
